John De Finney

board thumb johnDr. John De Finney is a bilingual chiropractor with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and a Specialty in Sports Chiropractic. He graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1976. He is a co-founder of the Canadian Chiropractic Sports Academy which became the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences. He is one of its first three Fellows. He was secretary-treasurer and head of the fellowship program. He was granted a Pioneer Award by the RCCSS(C) and is a Life Member. Dr. De Finney is a co-founder of the Foundation for the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) and serves as Secretary. He is still involved in a variety of recreational sports and has won national titles and set several Canadian records as an age class runner. He was the first chiropractor to win a gold medal in the Medical Games. He is a co-founder of the Run for Chiropractic Education which was renamed the Backs in Motion. He continues to be the technical director for the run which has raised over $2,000,000 in its 36 years of existence. He is a member of the CMCC Governors’ Club for 31 years and was on the Board of Governors of CMCC from 2012 to 2014. He has lectured at the undergraduate and post graduate level and published articles on sports injuries and treatment. He continues to practice part time in a multi-disciplinary clinic in Markham, Ontario.
